There is a water leak in the alley of Limit and Pershing.
There is a current unscheduled power outage and the crews are on site. Please bear with us as we fix the problem. The power will be on as soon as possible.
Today, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the Water Department crews will begin tying into the water main with a new water line. You will lose water for about two hours from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. This will affect Lindell/McPike to St John and Lindell/McPike to Taylor. There will be a boil advisory following for 48 hours. It is possible the crew will start before 10:00 am with tying in, so you will lose water at that time.
Please be advised that the bathrooms at all parks in the City of Vandalia, MO have been winterized and are now closed for the winter season. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. The facilities will reopen in the spring.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Vandalia Secures Grant to Ensure Safe Drinking Water -
In a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents, the City of Vandalia has secured a substantial grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This grant will fund a comprehensive project to inspect and replace lead service lines throughout the city.
The City of Vandalia aims to identify and replace any lead service lines that may pose a risk to public health. With the grant, Vandalia will be able to conduct thorough inspections of all service lines, ensuring that every household has access to safe, clean drinking water.
To keep residents informed and involved, the city will be distributing informational flyers to every household. These flyers will provide details about the project, including the timeline, what residents can expect during inspections, and tips on how to reduce lead exposure in their homes. The flyers will also include contact information for residents who have questions or need further assistance.
The project is set to begin in early 2025, with teams of inspectors working systematically through the city. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the inspection teams and to reach out to the city’s public works department with any concerns.
This proactive approach by the City of Vandalia not only addresses immediate health concerns but also sets a precedent for other communities to follow. By taking these steps, Vandalia is ensuring a safer, healthier future for all its residents.
