The Mexico Senior Center is collecting for our Senior Homebound Meal Participants. There are around 200 participants in the Vandalia/Farber area. They are asking for donations so that they can make sure each participant receiving their assistance has a Christmas present. The Christmas wish list is below:

April 6, 2020 - The Night the Lights went out in Vandalia... A MASSIVE tree was cut down by a resident landed on power lines causing a high fault amp current which resulted in the Vandalia substation fire where the power was out for 12 hours or longer in some areas.
November 6, 2023 - Scheduled power outages start. Power will be scheduled to be out again on the 7th and 8th of November starting at 10 pm until 4 am. Pictures of what was done last night. With lines having voltages of 69KV or higher, the power must be turned off to ensure safety of the crews working to upgrade to the new substation.

The 2023 Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) year has ended. The 2024 program year starts October 1, 2023. All elderly & disabled households may begin submitting applications for the 2024 program starting October 1, 2023. Payments to utility companies cannot occur until November 1, 2023, for elderly and disabled. No pledges are submitted to utility companies for the month of October.
All non-elderly & non-disabled households may begin submitting 2024 applications starting November 1, 2023. Payments to utility companies for these households cannot occur until December 1, 2023.
